Retreat Mallorca

This fall, we are hosting a NeuroMovement® retreat for children up to 18 years old and their families. Location, while exploring the beautiful Spanish island of Mallorca.

NeuroMovement® - retreat - family vacation

Program overview

  • Juan Carlos Concha, Corine Buijsman and Ann Iren Glimsdal are the three NeuroMovement® practitioners who teach an intensive series of 10 lessons. With no travel time and plenty of rest in between lessons these are the best possible conditions for learning and development.

  • During the week personal caregiver and host Julie Taal offers blocks (4 hours total per child) of 1-on-1 daytime activities, such as walking, gentle swimming, and playing on the ground. While she is taking care of your little one, you can enjoy a moment of rest yourself, get a massage, participate in a yoga session or go on a cycling ride.

  • The week also offers opportunities to meet other families and share experiences, knowledge and connections.

  • As part of the program, Julie will provide the clinic “Travel Beyond Limits”, with tips and tricks to (continue to) travel with your child.

  • Hotel Valentin Playa de Muro is the ideal base to explore Mallorca or to recharge on the nearby accessible beach, just a three-minute walk away.

Accommodation is on a half board basis (breakfast & dinner are included), with the choice of an adjusted 3-person bungalow (30m2) for the disabled traveler, or a regular 4-person bungalow (30m2).

Facilitation

Meet the team of practitioners and facilitators with years of experience with children with disabilities.

  • My name is Juan Carlos Concha. I am a certified ABM or NeuroMovement® practitioner (science based and state of the art hands-on application on brain plasticity). In my practice across the world, I use touch and movement since 2011 to unfold the natural tendency of the brain to create new patterns of functioning, helping children and adults to grow beyond their pain and limitations.

  • With my background as a psychomotor therapist and my experience in swimming with children with motor disabilities, I have long been fascinated by movement. The scientific foundation of NeuroMovement®, based on the principles of brain plasticity and the remarkable results achieved with it, immediately captivated me and motivated me to help children with disabilities reach their developmental potential.

  • I am an ABM NeuroMovement® Practitioner based in Ålesund, Norway. The last 10 years my work and interest have centered around movement and facilitating learning for adults and children. I love NeuroMovement® because it honors each persons unique way of developing. It creates the space to safely connect to ourselves, others and life in general. I look forward to connecting with you all.

  • As a physiotherapist working at the Hoogstraat in Utrecht, and with a master's degree in Movement Sciences, I specialize in rehabilitation. Since I was fifteen, I have been helping children and adults with various disabilities as a personal supervisor. As the driving force behind Moving Beyond Limits, I believe that every individual has potential that we may not initially see or dare to dream.

"In 2024, our family went to Mallorca for the NeuroMovement intensive for our son Lex. It was a wonderful week. The 10 lessons brought about beautiful steps in his development. And the peace – not having to do anything, no other obligations – around the NeuroMovement lessons did him a lot of good. NeuroMovement was the main reason for participating in the retreat. However, as a family, we also greatly enjoyed the week together and the connection with other families."

Laura from The Netherlands

“It was a special week, where we worked hard on Thomas's development in a warm and supportive environment. We had wonderful encounters with other parents, children, and therapists who worked with great expertise with our children. We can see that Thomas has made beautiful progress in his development—he is more relaxed, more focused, and vocalizing more sounds. We would love to come again soon!”

Laura (52) from the Netherlands

“No travel time and naps between the lessons are ideal for my little son, Louie. Every single time, we see beautiful steps of cognitive development after a week of NeuroMovement”

David (40) from The Netherlands
